Dave Potts is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a poet's eye for detail, crafting melodic, story-driven songs that capture the quiet truths of everyday life. With a flannel-smooth voice and a humorous, disarming stage presence, he carved out a place in the modern folk scene through relentless touring, heartfelt songwriting, and a deep connection to life's small, meaningful moments.
Raised in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, Dave spent his early years sharing his songs across the country, traveling in his dusty red pickup truck, logging more than 50,000 miles a year and performing in over 2,000 venues across 43 states. He eventually put down roots in Auburn, Alabama, where his songwriting began to reflect the quiet beauty of small-town life. Along the way, he earned honors including a first-place win in the International Acoustic Music Awards (Folk/Americana/Roots category), Just Plain Folks New Folk Song of the Year, and recognition as a four-time New Folk Finalist at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival.
As life changed, so did his priorities. Dave stepped away from the road to raise a family, trading endless miles and late-night shows for school events, family dinners, and the everyday moments that would ultimately deepen his songwriting. While the touring slowed, the stories never stopped.
Now, with his children grown and a new season of life unfolding, Dave has returned to the music that first carried him across the country. Writing, recording, and performing once again, he brings with him the perspective that only time can provide. His songs reflect where he is today—thoughtful, hopeful, nostalgic, and grounded in the belief that life's most meaningful stories are often found in the simple, everyday moments we tend to overlook.
Whether revisiting older songs through a new lens or creating fresh material that speaks to the present, Dave's return isn't a comeback so much as a continuation of the journey he started decades ago—one song, one story, and one small piece of life at a time.
