Back To Jackson

I just keep on driving, two hands on the wheel
These dusty 2-lanes seem to know exactly how I feel
Long forgotten but more alive than a memory
Somewhere along the line, they became
Less important than they used to be

Everything I feel tells me to turn this car around
I could make it back to Jackson by the time the sun goes down
I can turn these wheels around and head back home to her
But I'm too far gone, to make it back to where we were

I remember sunsets in the Mississippi sky
Lighting fires above us and inside of her eyes
It looked like heaven stretching far as we could see
Somewhere along the line, they became
Less majestic than they used to be

Everything I feel tells me to turn this car around
I could make it back to Jackson by the time the sun goes down
I can turn these wheels around and head back home to her
But I'm too far gone, to make it back to where we were

It's really only hours ago that I was back at home
Only 150 miles or so that I have gone
It's really only everything that's changed
The fire inside her eyes was probably missing, long before today

Everything I feel tells me to turn this car around
I could make it back to Jackson by the time the sun goes down
I can turn these wheels around and head back home to her
But I'm too far gone, to make it back to where we were
